Cluster: 3 double crochets

Chain multiples of 3 plus 1 very loosely.

Onto the second chain, single crochet in the bump on the back, not the top of the chain.

Single crochet along chain to end.

Chain 3 and turn work. Double crochet twice, chain 3 and cluster all in the next stitch.

*Chain 1, skip 2 chains, then double crochet 3 (cluster). *Repeat between *   * until at last Chain.

Chain 1. [cluster, Chain 3, cluster, and then Chain 3 and cluster] all in the very last stitch. Chain 1.

Flip work upside down so you are now crocheting along the bottom of the single crochet strip.

*Cluster, Chain 1, skip 2 stitches* to last stitch where the first corner was made. Chain 3 then slip stitch to the top of the chain 3.

[Slip stitch to space. This should be a corner space. **the piece is going to look super weird but the more you work it the more it evens out**

Chain 3, 2 double crochets in space, chain 3, cluster. Chain 1, cluster, chain 3, cluster.

*Chain 1, cluster in next space* Repeat until you reach the corner space.

Chain 1. In corner space, cluster, chain 3, and cluster.

*Chain 1, cluster in next space* Repeat until you reach the last space.

Cluster in the last space, chain 1 and slip stitch to the top of chain 3 at the start of the round.]

Repeat [ to ] until desired size and continue in granny stitch from here on.

Edit: once I can I'll take pictures of the work and add to the post.
